Happy New Surf!

Good Rutsch!

Hey you outta there in the european fridge,
I was not posting any stuff for weeks and so my bad conciousness moved me behind the laptop, typing some lines. Last night I saw my favourite movie "Into the wild" and I liked it when the protagonist wrote in his book: "Happiness only real when shared." So I thougt of sharing my happiness with you, and want to let u know that I am fine here in Mancora kissing the breast of nature and I hope everyone is well. I have to say, that I miss a lot of people sometimes arround me, but then I remember how fast time is running (so soon I will be back). I write down my next info in Ecuador, where I will start to work in a hostal at the beginning of January. Much love from me kisses and free hugs to everyone.
Euer Johannes

El Maestro

Interview with Franciscos 99 years old teacher.

Shooting in Tamanco

Interview set near Tamanco, where Francisco lived the First 6 years of his life and where he was iniciated by his grandmother Trinidad, to start the apprenticeship as a schaman.

It is done!

Hola chicos,
finally it´s done I went through my filming process in Iquitos during the last month, and I just can´t realize for the moment all that was happening out there in the rainforest. Just for now I am feeling very peaceful and balanced, because the first big part of my project passed on so well. I shot 20 hours of film during my stay in Sachamama and the whole thing got in the and a new touch, that I never thougt of before. Aditional to my documentary work about the schamanic work of Francisco Montes and Rachel Willay, it was offered to me to speek to different people about their experiences with the plants, and also we visited with Francisco for the first time since he was 6 years old, his hometown Tamanco. This was a new fact giving the film a new direction about all the cultural background and its changement, which is happening right now in Peru and all over the globe. I am fine backuping the video material here in Lima. Within the next days I´ll send all the equipement home and start back on traveling further north, where the waves are waiting for me. A peaceful and friendly smile to everyone of you!
Juancito
P.S.: Within the next week you will see the first movie pictures here on my blog!

Slack the line!

Me and my slackline!

Impression Reel

Hola amigos,
I am back to write some words. I almost forgot the internet, because of the "Magic Pacific Ocean" here in Mancora. The video contains some impressions of the last weeks in Peru. Anyway the time of "agressive chilling" is over on thursday I am heading to Lima, where I will fly to Iquitos to start my main-project SACHAMAMA.

Heaps of good energy for all of you!

First stop Mancora Beach!

Hey fellas,
the very first step of my adventure is done. I arrived after two days in airplaines and buses at the little paradise, called Mancora. It is a small town in the north of Peru and very famous for its surfspots and the best kite surfing school in this area. I am here with two friends from Germany and we are searching the waves, "slacklining between palmtrees" and "viva la vida". I just can say it is the perfect place to prepare me for my film project in Iquitos in November.

much love!

The Idea

The standart way of a design student at the University of Applied Sciences in Trier, is to graduate after 9 or 10 semestres. After the 5th or 6th semestre you normally go out of Trier for an apprenticeship in an advertising agency, or an external semestre on a partner university somewhere arround the globe. When I heared that you also can do your own project, I had the idea of shooting a film about Don Francisco Montes and his etnobotanical garden "Sachamama". I spent one week at Sachamama in summer 2008. The garden is situated in the middle of the rainforest 45 min. away from Iquitos (Northwest Peru). Along my journey last summer I became more and more fascinated by the subject of schamanism and the work of Don Francisco as a schaman. The Idea was born and a lot of paperwork and planning had to be done...

See you soon! ;-)
